Copenhagen is generally a peaceful city where you will be safe at all times of day. Crime against foreigners usually involves pickpocketing, bag-snatching and theft from cars. Therefore, take the usual precautions against theft: Don't carry your wallet, cash or credit cards in your back pocket or an open bag and don't leave valuables in your car, hotel room or tent.
Do not be tempted by the trick gamblers you might meet on the Strøget (Copenhagen's main pedestrian street). There will usually be only one loser in the game and that's you!
A hazard in the traffic you must be aware of, are the many cyclist who do not always comply with the traffic rules. In return you can almost always be sure, that motorist will respect their right of way for pedestrians. You will find that Danish pedestrians generally take traffic lights very seriously and nicely stands waiting for the green light, even if there is a single car in the area.
