The Elsinore Tapestry
The 36-meter-long Elsinore Tapestry is on display at the Town Museum. The embroidered tapestry was produced by 37 immigrant women during 2½ years of work and completed in 2003. It tells about the women's experiences of coming to Denmark as refugees from wars in the former Yugoslavia and Palestine. They settled in Elsinore and the tapestry tells in a unique way about their lives before, during and after the flight and the new life in Denmark. A unique piece of textile art inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry.
