Kragsbjerggaard Vandrerhjem & Hotel: Manor house atmosphere at eye level

Rural idyll with a short distance to the city centre and the city's many attractions? Kragsbjerggaard Vandrerhjem & Hotel is housed in a charming old manor house from 1747. As the name suggests, the farm offers both hostel and hotel rooms.

Rural atmosphere close to the city centre
The hostel is housed in a former manor house with a large enclosed courtyard with several activities. In summer, there are bench tables and garden furniture for free use (including sun loungers for sunbathing). The hostel has rooms with up to eight beds, and guests can choose whether they want a room with their own shower and toilet or share shower and toilet facilities in the corridors with other guests.

Kragsbjerggaard Vandrerhjem & Hotel is located in quiet surroundings without much traffic. The large courtyard and small peaceful forest make it a great, cosy and safe place for families with children. Perfect for an overnight stay close to the city centre but with peace and quiet. The farm also has a TV lounge, communal kitchen, laundry and game room, which guests at both hostels and hotels have access to. And of course, there is free Wi-Fi throughout the farm.

Right next to the reception is a large car park, which is of course free to use. With the short distance to Odense city centre (2 km), almost all of the city's attractions can be reached on foot, and if you get tired of walking, the nearest bus stop is only 200 m away.

A manor house with historical significance
The farm that lies beneath the manor house and now the hostel dates back to the 1500s. It is known that the farm supplied milk to the citizens of Odense for many years, and that the people of Odense also used the farm's forest as an excursion destination. During the extensive renovation that both the hostel and hotel building have undergone in recent years, the natural charm of the farm environment has been preserved as much as possible. Look out for the memorial from 1747 in the beam outside the reception building, where the then owner Johan Cristopher von Westen and his wife, Karen Krag Holmsted, who gave the farm its name, have engraved their initials.

Hotel rooms in the main house
The farm's beautiful main house houses eight newly renovated hotel rooms with views of either the farm area or the cosy peaceful forest behind the hotel building. The building, which previously housed the Funen Military Collection, was completely modernised after the current owners bought the farm back in 2019. Ever since the inauguration, guests have shown great enthusiasm for the new hotel rooms, which offer a more exclusive accommodation option than what is available at the hostel. Hotel rooms can be booked via Kragsbjerggaard Vandrerhjem & Hotel's own website.
