The Danish Railway Museum

The Danish Railway Museum - Trains for the whole family

Lose yourself in 10.000 m2 of rail technology, experiences, discoveries, games and nostalgia.

The Danish Railway Museum is housed in an old roundhouse from 1954 in the centre of Odense. In this rustic, industrial setting, you will experience Denmark’s railway history and get close to lots of engines and carriages. Take a seat on an uncomfortable bench in one of the old passenger carriages, experience travelling first class, peek into a royal carriage or pretend you are an engine driver in the driver’s cab of one of our impressive steam locomotives. Walk among the iron giants or watch our model trains drive through a miniature landscape. There are plenty of opportunities for hours of play and fascinating activities in this big museum for the whole family, and all ages are welcome.

For children – and children at heart

Everyone is fascinated with our engines and carriages. You are welcome to touch, feel and play with them and let your imagination run wild! Take the youngest visitors to the Children’s Railway Station, our popular child-sized play and learning area. Here, children can pretend to be an engine driver, sell tickets, man the control tower, and travel to remote destinations. Visit the play area, too, where children can build to their heart’s content with rails, trains, blocks and bricks. Our popular mini-train runs every day, indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather. Take as many rides as you like! All activities are free once you have paid the entrance fee.
