Harvest days at Hygum Hjemstavnsgård

During Harvest Days at Hygum Hjemstavnsgård, you can experience the harvest development from around year 1900 onwards. It is the evolution from scythe to distributing machine, self-binder and the combine harvester.

The harvest time was both a busy and festive time. There was the hard work in the fields to get grain and straw in the house, replaced by celebrations with harvest parade and harvest festival with folk music.

Come and experience the "old-fashioned" harvest quickened by the Museum's many volunteers and try the housewife’s work, which was an important part in the harvest. Historical kitchen will pass out samples and the old oven makes sure that there are hot buns and warm bread for the people.
