BEETLES! Obsessed with a collection at the Natural History Museum
Art & Science is the museum's new exhibition programme that explores new ways of communicating science through the prism of art. Through new perspectives, you can explore how humans are part of the natural ecosystem that we must protect together.
The art of immersion
This exhibition at the Natural History Museum is an exhibition that celebrates the collector, the researcher and their common denominator: immersion!
Visual artist Birgit Bjerre has immersed herself in the Natural History Museum's deep storerooms and exciting archives of prepared animals, notebooks and photographs. In her encounters with the museum's researchers and collection managers, she has discovered several similarities between her own work and that of the researchers, as well as related working methods. Fascinated by the quantities and the researchers' details, as well as their systematic approach and persistence, she puts their work in a new light.
IN 'BEETLES! Obsessed with a collection', art and science meet when Birgit Bjerre's works enter into an artistic dialogue with the museum's collections.
