Carillon Concert on August 4 at 11:05 AM

On August 4 at 11:05 AM, it will be exactly 150 years since H.C. Andersen passed away. This special moment will be commemorated with carillon concerts across the Nordic countries, featuring a newly composed suite performed in numerous cities.

On Monday, August 4 at 11:05, churches across Denmark and the Nordic countries will mark the 150th anniversary of H.C. Andersen’s death with a coordinated bell concert. For approximately 25–30 minutes, the air will be filled with melodies that celebrate the legacy of Denmark’s beloved poet.

The program is identical at all participating churches and features songs with lyrics written by H.C. Andersen. You’ll hear “I Am Danish, I Was Born Here” along with cherished folk songs and hymns such as “Where the Woods Are Fresh and Green,” “Dance, Dance, My Doll,” and “There’s a Bend in the Road.” It’s a rare opportunity to experience Andersen’s words in a musical setting that connects past and present.

The event is part of Andersen Forever, a project that unites churches across Denmark and the Nordic region in a shared tribute to H.C. Andersen. By playing the same melodies at the same time, a powerful sense of togetherness and cross-border community is created.
