Hindsholm pigs live twice as long as other slaughtered pigs. The slow growth has a big influence on the quality of the meat. So has the food, which consist of plants, roots and worms that the pigs themselves find in the ground, together with 100% organic food in the form of corn and peas.

The Hindsholm pigs live their whole lives outside, but can shelter in huts.

This results in a different fat composition and musculature. At Hindsholm Pigs, a sow has only one litter of piglets a year, compared to the usual nearly three, and the small pigs are allowed to be with their mother until they have been naturally weaned. This produces very healthy and strong pigs.
