Rhinestones, Reverb, and Robes - Opera Costumes at Herningsholm Museum

Thursday to Sunday, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM from August 15 to September 8. Vernissage on August 11.

Can a manor house in central Jutland hold some of the greatest operas in history? This will be put to the test during the Herning Opera Festival 2024!

In collaboration with the Herning Opera Festival and the Danish National Opera, Museum Midtjylland will exhibit a series of magnificent opera costumes.

The Danish National Opera has kindly loaned these costumes, which have been featured in select opera productions such as The Magic Flute, Tosca, and The Raven. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the origins, design, and use of these costumes.

For the younger visitors, a separate room will be equipped with a makeup table and mirror. Here, children can freely explore the art of makeup and the many faces of the opera world.

Vernissage
The exhibition "Rhinestones, Reverb, and Robes" will officially open with a reception at Herningsholm Museum on Sunday, August 11, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Herning Opera Festival has developed a tour concert where guitarist Allan Sjølin and opera singer, mezzo-soprano Nanna Bugge Rasmussen, will perform pieces related to the exhibited costumes.

Museum Midtjylland will provide sparkling wine and snacks. Admission will be free on the day of the opening, but there is a limited number of spots available, and registration is necessary.

Opening Hours
The exhibition will be open from Thursday to Sunday, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM from August 15 to September 8. Entrance fee is DKK 50 for adults. Children under 18 years have free admission.

Welcome to an opera atmosphere at the old manor house.
