Saint John's Eve – Løkken Beach
Traditionally, St. John's Day is celebrated on the beautiful beach in Løkken with a bonfire, speeches, and music. Bring the whole family and enjoy the longest day of the year in one of the most beautiful areas of the west coast.
Sankt Hans Eve, celebrated on June 23rd, is a magical midsummer tradition in Denmark. Rooted in old pagan solstice celebrations and later Christian traditions honoring Saint John the Baptist, the evening is marked by bonfires, singing, and community gatherings. A key tradition is the symbolic burning of a witch effigy on top of the bonfire, believed to drive away evil spirits. People gather on beaches, in parks, or town squares to enjoy music, speeches, and the iconic song "Midsommervisen". It’s a festive evening celebrating light, warmth, and togetherness.
