Step into a world of mystery and elements at Esrum Monastery & Møllegård. A summer experience where families join the School of Alchemy and master the forces of nature.
Follow in the Footsteps of Nicholas Flamel
Nicholas Flamel is looking for new apprentices! At the sensory-based School of Alchemy, families explore the four classical elements – fire, earth, air, and water – and learn how to harness their powers through fun and engaging activities.
Use Your Senses to Solve Riddles
Alchemy is about more than learning – it’s about sensing. Use taste, sight, touch and sound to identify mystical symbols and overcome challenges. You’ll light fires and pop corn, solve tasks and gradually earn the right to enter Flamel’s secret chamber.
Complete the final challenge, and you’ll be awarded your very own alchemy certificate.
Admission includes activities and access to exhibitions
- Experience summer at Esrum Monastery every day from 30 June to 10 August 2025.
- Adults: DKK 95 | Children (5–18 years): DKK 65 | Children under 5: Free
- Tickets can be purchased on the day at the Monastery Shop.
- The experience is primarily aimed at children aged 5–12 and their families.
- You can pick up your “school book” in the shop when buying your entrance ticket.
Discover the Monastery through Augmented Reality
Included in your entrance ticket is a digital journey into the past. Using an iPad, you'll uncover three sites where the original monastery layout is digitally reconstructed, guided by the "Spirit of Esrum" – voiced by Lars Mikkelsen.
Let the Children Play in Nature
Explore the scenic surroundings and let the kids loose on the nature playground. With zip lines, swings and picnic spots, it’s the perfect setting for a summer’s day out.
Taste and Take Something Home
The Møllecafé serves homemade dishes using local ingredients, while the monastery shop offers everything from books and toys to gourmet products and handmade soap.
