Concert – Cohen in the church
The concert-narrative Cohen in the Church explores a selection of Leonard Cohen’s greatest songs and places them within the context of his poetry and life story.
The audience will be treated to songs such as Hallelujah, Suzanne, Bird on the Wire, So Long, Marianne and I’m Your Man.
The experienced quartet behind Cohen in the Church has created their own arrangements for vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, double bass and violin. Here, Cohen’s well-known songs take on new colours and expressions, whilst the lyrics, poetry and stories about his life tie the concert together.
About the musicians:
Behind “Cohen in the Church” are singer and guitarist Karsten Holm, bassist Bjørn “Bønne” Petersen, guitarist Martin Blom and violinist Knud Erik “Fuddi” Steengaard.
This experienced quartet, based in the Aarhus area, has been touring with “Cohen in the Church” since January 2017 and, over the years, has performed Cohen’s music in churches and concert halls across the country.
With their own arrangements, they interpret Leonard Cohen’s music, drawing on both the songs and the poetic universe that characterises his work.
