An eco-community in development

Dyssekilde is one of Denmark’s best-known eco-villages. Each year, many visitors from Denmark and abroad come to experience how sustainable ideas are put into practice in homes, shared spaces, and daily life.

The village features varied architecture, where different building methods and materials reflect the ambition to create homes with consideration for the environment and resources. The area can be explored on foot along the gravel roads, and a brochure can help guide visitors through the village.

Guided tours of the village

During a guided tour, the story of Dyssekilde’s development from vision to living community is shared. Participants gain insight into topics such as:

  • The planning and structure of the village

  • Sustainable building methods

  • Heating solutions and energy thinking

  • Community life in an eco-village

The tour offers an overview of how residents work with sustainable solutions in both construction and everyday activities.

Tours for groups

Groups can arrange a private guided tour of the village. This option allows time for questions and deeper insight into the ideas and experiences behind Dyssekilde.

Explore the village on your own

Visitors are also welcome to walk through Dyssekilde independently. Along the way, it is possible to discover the different houses, workshops, and small shops that characterise the village environment.

To respect everyday life in the community, guests are encouraged to stay on the gravel roads, as the green areas function as shared private gardens.
