Galleri Skippergården

Galleri Skippergården is housed in a Klitgård dating from 1877 and has been established by the artist couple Astrid Hygom and Leif Horndrup Jacobsen. Here they exhibit their art while also wishing to present and preserve the historic farm. This year, ceramics by Bibi Hansen and woodturning by Verner Nielsen are also on display.

The natural surroundings of the farm – the North Sea, the beach, the small landing places in the reed beds along the fjord, and the harbour of Hvide Sande – feature in both Astrid’s acrylic paintings and copper engravings as well as in Leif’s watercolours. The harbour of Esbjerg and the Wadden Sea also form a significant part of the exhibition.

Since 1987, Astrid Hygom has held solo exhibitions at public institutions and companies, as well as at museums and juried exhibitions in Denmark and abroad.

Bibi Hansen graduated from the School of Arts and Crafts in Kolding in 1984, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest in 1998, and has exhibited at museums and recognised exhibitions in Denmark and abroad.

Leif Horndrup Jacobsen graduated from the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1975 and exhibits watercolours from the local area and the beach, as well as croquis drawings.

Verner Nielsen presents functional art turned in many different types of wood.
