Kongens Tisted Church

Kongens Tisted Church was built during the Romanesque period around the year 1100 and contains several interesting historical details.

Originally, the church had both a north door and a south door, used as the women’s and men’s entrances respectively. The bricked-up south door can still be seen from the outside. In the south wall of the chancel, there is also a stone with a carved animal figure, believed to represent either a lion or a dragon.

Inside the church, you can see a beautiful granite baptismal font. At the entrance to the vicarage garden, an impressive runestone stands in the stone wall. The inscription reads: “Aagod, son of Tygote, raised this stone in memory of his brother Ege.”
