Nordborg Søsti

In an elongated tunnel valley at Nordals, Nordborg Lake offers beautiful impressions of nature all year round.

The lake trail takes you on a 7 kilometre walk around Nordborg Lake and gives a good impression of the impact of the Ice Age on the landscape.

A good starting point is the car park at Johan Hansens Vej, opposite the entrance to Nordborg Castle.

Closest to the town, the path runs right down to the water's edge with tufted ducks and great crested grebes on one side and allotments on the other. In Lavensby, the road winds idyllically between the old houses, there is also a rather special reunification stone and from the hilltop outside the town there is a view of Nordborg Castle and the water tower.

At Søvænget you'll find the local eternity bridge, a circular bridge that offers a beautiful view across the water to Slotsholmen, where you can sit and relax or continue across the bridge over Nordborg Bæk to Slotssøparken with the Reunification Stone for Nordborg and a table-bench set where you can enjoy your packed lunch.

From Søvænget, the route goes along Bækgade, past Ridepladsen with the statue of Svend Grathe, who had the first castle on the island of Als, called Alsborg, built around 1150.

The route around the lake is signposted in both directions and can be taken on foot or by mountain bike - with consideration for pedestrians, of course. Dogs are kept on a lead for the sake of the wildlife.
From the castle and along the southern shore of the lake to Søvej in Lavensby and from leaving Nyrøjsvej and heading north to Søvænget, the route is paved with gravel and/or follows a field road.

Nordborg Søsti is signposted in both directions, but if you prefer a digital view, you can download the Naturlandet App in App Store and/or Google Play.
