Oddesund Bridge – An impressive engineering feat across the Limfjord
Built by the Danish State Railways (DSB) between 1935 and 1938, the Oddesund Bridge connects Thyholm with Northwestern Jutland. The 490-meter-long bridge features a railway track and a two-lane road. It includes a 30-meter bascule span, three arch spans of approximately 70 meters each, and six spans of about 35 meters. The bascule pier was reinforced with concrete and steel piles in 1991/92, and the current piers were cast as caissons south of the bridge and renovated between 1992 and 1996. The bridge is a vital transport link and a striking landmark in the northwest Jutland landscape.
