Route description

The Children’s Route is very safe for traffic because it is laid out on the many good Bornholm cycle paths, and on many of the sections you ride on the disused railway track in the middle of the landscape, far away from other traffic.

The route can be completed in a week, of which two of the days are set aside for relaxing in Brændesgårdshaven near Svaneke and in Rønne town respectively. The activities can be easily changed as you wish – or they can be skipped. You can also choose some other cycle routes than the ones mentioned here, you just can’t be sure that you will ride on a cycle path. The children’s route is a total of 105km long – a manageable distance for even the smallest.

There are several options for renting bicycles – also for children. The children can have their own bicycle, or if they are small, a bicycle trailer to sit in while mom or dad pulls the load. Depending on where your cycling holiday starts, you can choose to take the car with the ferry to Bornholm or come on foot and then rent the bicycles in Rønne or out on the island.

Stage 1 – Children’s Route – Rønne to Gudhjem

Stage 2 – Children’s Route – Gudhjem to Svaneke

Stage 3 – Children’s Route – Svaneke to Brændesgårdshaven

Stage 4 – Children’s Route – Svaneke to Nexø

Stage 5 – Children’s Route – Nexø to Aakirkeby

Stage 6 – Children’s Route – Aakirkeby to Rønne
