Fruit, flowers and farm life near Rø Plantage

Near Rø Plantage, you will find Krogsholm Frugt, where fruit trees, berries, vegetables and flowers follow the changing seasons. Henrik and Brith Messerschmidt have lived at Krogsholm since 1992, and today you can visit both the farm shop and the roadside stall and take some of the farm’s harvest with you.

The apple orchard was planted in 2001 and has around 3,000 trees, including varieties such as Gråsten, Ingrid Marie, Filippa and Elstar. The apples are picked by hand when ripe, and the selection in the farm shop changes with the season. You will also find the farm’s own vegetables and berries, as well as hand-tied flower bouquets.

From the fruit tree to the bottle

A large part of the harvest is processed on the farm itself. Among other things, the apples are cold-pressed into juice at Krogsholm’s own farm juicery, while the farm’s fruit and berries are made into products such as jams, syrups, vinegar and chutney in the production kitchen. The bees among the fruit trees, berries and strawberries also produce honey that varies in both flavour and colour throughout the season.

Fruit, berries and vegetables are grown without pesticides, and much of the work is done by hand—from cultivation and pruning to picking and processing. A visit to Krogsholm therefore offers a small glimpse into the changing seasons at a Bornholm orchard.
