Take the whole family on a journey through the entire solar system in less than a kilometre. The Planet Trail in Høng takes you from the Sun past all the planets and all the way out to Pluto in just 589 metres. The trail lies in Høng Skov forest in Kalundborg Municipality in West Zealand and is both the newest and shortest planet trail in Denmark.
The Sun and planets are rendered in granite at a scale of 1:1 billion, while the distances between them are scaled 1:10 billion. Here it is only 15 metres from the Sun to Earth, so even the smallest legs can make it from the Sun to Pluto. Along the way you can scan QR codes at each planet and watch short films made by students from Høng Gymnasium og HF.
The trail winds along a smooth gravel path through the forest, from the car park at Gyldenagervej down towards the Bødstrup Å stream. The route is step-free and suitable for prams and wheelchairs. On the way you pass the dog forest, a small playground with a slide and a cosy barbecue area with tables and benches.
The Planet Trail was inaugurated in 2022 and created by the Kløversti group in Høng together with the town schools, based on an idea by Henning Vingborg. If you want to walk further, you can continue along Høngs waymarked Kløverstier clover trails, which together cover 25 km in and around the town.
The Planet Trail is free and open all year. The starting point lies about one kilometre from Høng Station, so it is easy to reach by public transport. Leaflets about the trail are available at the start.
