Skuldelev Beach shelter

A sheltered spot in a scenic setting

The shelter is located on a large, open grassy area by Skuldelev Beach with views of Roskilde Fjord. It is positioned in the lee of small trees and scrub, providing good protection from wind and weather. There is space for up to six people, and the area invites both tranquillity and shared outdoor experiences. The distance to Skuldelev Harbour is only approx. 400 metres, so facilities and the harbour environment are close at hand.

Close to the water and fjord experiences

With just 50 metres to the beach, there are excellent opportunities to enjoy life by the water. There is easy access for canoes and kayaks, and the popular sea-kayaking route Eskilsø Round starts and finishes at Skuldelev Beach. You can swim from the small sandy beach or use the bathing jetty at Skuldelev Harbour. The fjord also offers good fishing opportunities, especially at Skuldelev Odde, where migrating fish follow the old sailing channels.

An ideal stop on walking and cycling routes

The shelter is located in an area with access to both walking and cycling routes.

• The Fjord Path passes close by and connects Frederikssund and Skibby through a varied coastal landscape.
• The Pontoppidan Route for cyclists runs a few kilometres from the shelter site, making it an ideal place for a break or an overnight stay on a longer journey.

Here, an active holiday is combined with easy access to nature.

Practical information and booking

There are tables and benches as well as a barbecue and campfire area on site, and toilets are available at Skuldelev Harbour. Firewood is provided, and the shelter is free to use on a first come, first served basis. If you want to be sure of a place, the shelter can be booked via Friluftsguiden, where a booking gives priority upon presentation of confirmation. Parking is available at Skuldelev Beach, just a few steps from the shelter.
