14–15 March (Shrovetide baking weekend)

The baking weekends take place every year at Shrovetide, in spring, late summer and at the first Advent.

In 2026, the old baking oven will be fired up on the following dates:
30–31 May (spring baking weekend)
5–6 September (late summer baking weekend)
28–29 November (Advent baking weekend)

Bread and cakes are baked the traditional way – usually in the bakehouse and over many hours by the museum’s volunteers. Entry to the museum is free, and you can buy coffee, cake and baked goods.

About the museum:
At the local heritage museum Jacob Michelsens Gård, you can experience how the Sønderjyder lived more than 100 years ago.

The farm’s history dates back to Aabenraa’s land register from 1535. In 1847, the farm became part of the Michelsen family estate, and today the house and its outbuildings have been transformed into a living museum, with the garden and buildings opening on selected days.

The collection includes old tools, traditional farmhouse furniture and an extensive textile collection.

Throughout the year, there are changing exhibitions about life on the farm.
