Black Sun (by bus)
Join us and experience the phenomenon of the black sun. You will be picked up by bus at various pick-up points and hear stories about the area along the way until we reach our destination for the evening. Here we will get off the bus and experience the dance of the starlings.
The dance of the starlings is a dance of life and death. The beautiful formations are determined by the number of birds of prey that hunt the starlings. The nature guides observe the starlings in the days leading up to the tour and do their best to find the starlings' nightly resting place. However, there are no guarantees when it comes to nature - no one knows exactly how the evening will turn out. That's what makes it so exciting. Join us on an interesting and educational journey where the nature guide will tell you much more about the wonderful life of the starlings.
As we are standing still while waiting for the starlings to arrive and their dance can last until after sunset, it is necessary to dress warmly, with a hat, wool and windproof and waterproof outerwear. You may also want to bring food, coffee and a sitting mat while you wait. In wet terrain we may have to walk up to 1 kilometre. So bring some sensible waterproof footwear.
IMPORTANT: The tour starts at Hotel Dagmar. If you prefer to be at P-South, the meeting time is no later than 10 minutes after ‘tour start’. We take the bus to the place we think is best that day. It can be in Ribemarsken or Tøndermarsken. In Tøndermarsken we can be north or south of the Danish-German border. Therefore, REMEMBER TO BE CAREFUL!
