Dark Sky Park Mandø
Mandø is one of the darkest places in Denmark and therefore it is obvious to establish a Dark Sky Park on Mandø.
With its location on the Wadden Sea, Mandø is an important part of a unique natural area.
The Wadden Sea is the paradise of migratory birds, when they migrate the many thousands of kilometers from Siberia to Africa and stay in the Wadden Sea.
The birds search for Mandø, as it is one of the darkest places in Denmark and in the Wadden Sea. Here the birds find peace to relax and find their way.
In a light-polluted world, Mandø provides peace and quiet, not just to birds, nature and animals, but also to people. It is a completely unique experience to stand on Mandø and a sea of stars break out in the dark sky, and merge with the dark horizon of the North Sea.
Dark Sky Park is an international collection of areas with extraordinary starry nights, where the darkness is so dense that you can see the night sky and the entire blanket of stars without light pollution.
The idea is to protect a natural phenomenon so that people can see amazing constellations very clearly.
