Holmeskoven in Gelsted ca. 2,5 - 3 km

South of Gelsted lies Holmeskoven – a roughly 25-hectare forest established in 1997–1998.

East of Holmegård, on a low hill, archaeological finds suggest a medieval fort once stood here. Today, the hill is covered with beech trees.

The forest is jointly owned by Naturstyrelsen and the Gelsted Citizens’ Association and forms part of a larger public recreational area with shared trails.

Holmeskoven also features a campsite with two shelters and a fire pit, set in a small clearing within the forest.
