Kroppedal Museum in Taastrup is located in the heart of Vestskoven and combines three strong themes: astronomy, archaeology and modern times. The museum bears national responsibility for Danish astronomical history and is located just a stone's throw from Ole Rømer's land observatory Tusculanum, where precise measurements of the positions of the stars became a Danish strength. Here you will encounter the story of Rømer and the long line from early observations to modern space research in a way that gives food for thought.

Inside the museum, you can follow the traces of Ice Age hunters, Iron Age people and Vikings to the construction of the suburbs. The award-winning presentation brings local finds to life, giving a voice to a pearl, a sword or a comb stone from people who lived here before us. Outside, the experience continues in the museum garden, which offers relaxation, play and learning, as well as shelters for special group activities. The garden paths and surrounding landscape invite you to combine nature and culture in one trip.

Kroppedal works closely with the local area through the historical archives of Albertslund, Høje Taastrup and Ishøj. Here, photos, letters and everyday objects are transformed into vivid stories about the roots and identity of the suburbs. If you want to delve deeper, you can book guided tours where experts unfold the stories and connect the dots between objects, places and people.

On Facebook and Instagram, the museum shares glimpses from excavations, peeks into the archives and small astronomical insights that bring the past into play in the present. In short, Kroppedal Museum is a place where curiosity is rewarded and where a trip among display cases and star myths opens up new questions you will want to pursue. For the whole family.
