Selskær/Slevad Burial mound

Near Sommersted, at Slevadvad, lies a Bronze Age burial mound. The mound is located just a few hundred meters from Slevad Bridge, where it is believed that the Hærvejen crossed the Mølleå stream via a ford. From Slevadvej, a sign points the way to the burial mound.

For many years, the burial mound at Slevadvej was hidden, but during plowing in 1944, the edge stones were uncovered. During the subsequent excavation, an urn containing burnt human bones was found. The burial mound has been protected since 1984.

The stone structures visible today are the restored remains of the burial mound, which is believed to have been constructed in the Late Bronze Age, around 1,000-500 BC.
