The story of Morsø Jernstøberi

Morsø Jernstøberi was founded in 1853 by N.A. Christensen, who settled in Nykøbing Mors with the ambition of building a strong business.

From modest beginnings the foundry grew into one of the country's largest producers of cast goods – from cookers and stoves to pots and irons.

By around 1900 the company already employed approximately 250 workers, and production was continuously expanded in line with demand.

From craftsmanship to modern industry

Throughout the 20th century, Morsø Jernstøberi developed with the times.

Production became more mechanised, and the range was expanded to include both design products and modern heating solutions.

Today the company is especially known for its wood-burning stoves – a product rooted in more than 150 years of experience with iron and heat.

The historic buildings around Støberigården still bear witness to a time when the area was a thriving industrial centre.

It was once a complex network of buildings and production halls – almost like a labyrinth – but today the remaining buildings stand as a powerful symbol of the significance of Morsø Jernstøberi.
