Easter holidays at the Cold War Museum Langelandsfort

Easter at the Cold War Museum Langelandsfort offers experiences for the whole family. Here, exciting history is combined with activities that both children and adults can participate in. In the middle of the Langeland countryside in Bagenkop, the fort stands as a striking testimony to Denmark's role during the Cold War.

This year, the Cold War Museum Langelandsfort opens for the season on Sunday 29 March (Palm Sunday), and the Easter holidays mark the start of a new season full of experiences.

Explore the Cold War

The Cold War Museum Langelandsfort provides an insight into a time when surveillance, preparedness and security filled everyday life. Explore authentic bunkers, experience the large cannons and see military vehicles up close.

The museum also has exhibitions on espionage and surveillance, and you can board both a submarine and a minesweeper and get up close to a MIG fighter jet. This makes the visit lively and engaging – even for children and young people.

Activities during the Easter holidays

During the Easter holidays, the Cold War Museum Langelandsfort invites you to enjoy extra experiences in the area.

Children can try their hand at being an ‘intelligence agent for a day’, where curiosity and problem solving take centre stage. There are also guided tours where the history of the fort is unfolded, and on selected days the old diesel engines in the machine bunker are started up so that you can really feel the wings of history.

On selected days, you can take a tour of the area in an old military truck, and there is the opportunity to buy something to eat and drink during your visit.

Experiences nearby

When visiting the Cold War Museum Langelandsfort, it is a good idea to combine your visit with nature and experiences on South Langeland.

Take a trip to Gulstav Mose and Dovns Klint, where the ice age landscape and the open sea create a beautiful setting for hiking. The area is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark South Funen Archipelago and offers special nature experiences all year round.

In Bagenkop, you can experience the harbour environment, and it is ideal to round off the day with a walk along the coast.

Practical information

The Cold War Museum Langelandsfort is located in Bagenkop. There are parking facilities in the area, and the museum can be reached by public transport to Bagenkop town.

The area is partially accessible to wheelchair users, but as it is a historic fort with bunkers and outdoor areas, certain areas may have limited access. It is recommended that you allow plenty of time for your visit, as both the exhibitions and outdoor areas offer many experiences.
