Juelsminde
The perfect starting point for your holidays, child friendly beaches and the cosy city centre with every attraction, restaurant and point of interest is reachable by foot and many fun activities.
Denmark's most delightful harbour town
Located between Horsens Fjord and Vejle Fjord, the Juelsminde Peninsula is home to the old fishing and ferry town of Juelsminde, which has now become a popular destination for coastal holidays.
With a population of 4,000, Juelsminde is not a big city, but with a large annual influx of tourists, it offers a good selection of shops, restaurants, accommodations, and experiences.
Juelsminde is known for its maritime atmosphere surrounding the large marina, where plenty of dining options line the waterfront.
The harbour
Juelsminde Harbor has been named Denmark's harbour of the year on more than one occasion. It's no wonder that sailors and landlubbers from near and far head to the harbour when the sky is blue and the weather feels like summer. It's a wonderfully cosy place with activities for all ages. There are several restaurants with outdoor seating by the water, offering everything from fish dishes to burgers, all while enjoying the sound of ship masts and the gentle breeze from the Kattegat. The harbour also features several ice cream stands, a lovely playground with a very popular crab pier/crab race track, a mini-golf course, and a harbor museum.
The beaches
Situated at the end of a peninsula, Juelsminde is almost surrounded by beaches all the way around. There are around 7 kilometers of bathing beaches near the town, perfect for swimming. Most visitors head to the Great Beach (Storstranden), which is located right next to the harbour. This beach has a Blue Flag and a lifeguard tower. However, there are also other beaches to choose from, depending on the wind and weather.
It's also recommended to take a walk along the beaches to the tip of the Juelsminde Peninsula, Bjørnsknude.
Shopping and city life
For its size, Juelsminde offers a surprisingly good range of shops selling everything from fashion to delicacies, beach goods, and handmade crafts. The town’s main shopping street, Odelsgade, is located just behind the harbor, and everything is generally within walking distance.
A paradise for children
Juelsminde Nature Playpark is Eastern Jutland's largest and best playground and is a must-visit for families with children in the area. The park features 8-meter-high play towers, a large snow-free sledding hill, a zip line, multi-sport courts, a skate park, and more.
