Kulturringen Hjarnø – Rosenvold

This lovely bicycle route leads you to many of the Juelsminde Peninsula’s greatest attractions. From Hjarnø in Horsens Fjord, along the coast to Juelsminde and the beautiful nature at Vejle Fjord. If you only have one day to experience the area, then this route is the right option for you.

Scenic bicycle route along the coast

Kulturringen stage 21 between Hjarnø and Rosenvold is a 31-kilometrre-long route that offers plenty of attractions, lots of beautiful and varied nature and ocean view. The entire route is waymarked, so it is easy to find your way around the landscape. In order to get to the start of the route, you can take the ferry to Hjarnø from Snaptun or the little bicycle ferry from the neighbor island Alrø.

 

Experiences along the route

Hjarnø has lots of charming Danish island atmosphere even though it is located very close to the coast. Riding your bicycle around the island, you can see Denmark’s second smallest church, a Viking grave, a rich diversity of animal life and fine beaches. 

Get on the ferry to the little marina and ferry port Snaptun. Here you can cool down with a refreshing ice-cream or have a look around the authentic little marina.

Heading south you will pass the beaches and holiday home areas of As Vig. You pass close by As Vig Beach and you should get off your bike, head to the ocean and enjoy the scenery at the beautiful cove.  

Shortly after, you will arrive in the village Hosby, where you can see one of Denmark’s finest castle gardens at Palsgaard Castle.

Continue the tour along the coast to the popular holiday town Juelsminde which has one of the best marinas in Denmark with a wonderful maritime atmosphere. You have plenty of opportunity to enjoy a nice meal or an ice-cream at the waterfront. Here you can easily sense the atmosphere that makes people from near and afar flock to Juelsminde whenever the sun is shining. You can go for a walk at the marina and the beach Storstranden right next to the marina. If you travel with children, then make sure to stop at the big nature play park.

Along Vejle Fjord you will get to the village of Barrit where you can visit the local dairy. Continue to Staksrode Forest – one of the most beautiful forests in Denmark with a dramatic landscape with steep slopes to Stenhøj Beach below.

The tour ends at the headland in Rosenvold. You can see a castle, a camping site, a beach, and a marina. Frome here you have a breathtaking view of Vejle Fjord and the ocean Kattegat.

Kulturringen – Experience the best that Eastern Jutland has to offer

Kulturringen is a 540-kilometre-long waymarked bicycle route with more than 20 stages. Kulturringen combines beautiful and varied nature with exciting attractions, cultural history, charming villages and big cities. Kulturringen is the perfect choice for a bicycle holiday, but you can also choose to do one or two stages on a day trip.

From Rosenvold you can continue to follow Kulturringen on stage 22, heading back to Hjarnø further inland. On Hjarnø you can get on the bicycle ferry to Alrø and continue on the north side of Horsens Fjord in the direction of Odder and Aarhus or Skanderborg.
