The lake that disappeared (Brande Elværkssø)

Approximately 2 kilometres north of Brande, you find Brande Power Station Lake (elværkssø). However, in November 2013, the dam, unfortunately, broke down, and the power station lake does not exist anymore as such. The Skjern River stream still runs through the area.

The lake was originally a dammed lake, created when the power station was built around 1910, which formed an almost one-kilometer long lake. The area is an oasis for nature lovers and ideal for hiking and biking. The route around the area is about 4.5 km. Please note that the path is not suited for disabled people.
