Modsol

Modsol is inspired by the West Jutland ritual of jorddragning—an old practice in which a person was pulled counterclockwise through a hole in a turf to achieve healing and harmony with nature’s cycles.

This deep connection to nature is reflected in the sculpture, which links ancient rituals with modern reflection.
The form of the sculpture is based on the object used in the preferred cure of the West Jutland wise woman Kjæn Krathus: jorddragning. Through its shape and scale, Modsol invites ritual use, embodying the portal to future-oriented transformation that a high school represents at all times.

The sculpture stands in front of Herning Gymnasium, and the artist, Marie Kølbæk Iversen, is a former student of the school.
