A WorldTour cycling race represents the highest level of professional road cycling and brings together the world’s very best riders. At the same time, the event attracts international attention to the landscapes along Roskilde Fjord and the towns connected by the route.
The race starts at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, where the riders set off in historic surroundings with the fjord as a scenic backdrop. From here, the peloton moves out into the open countryside of Zealand, characterised by wide roads, farmland and frequent views of the water.
A route along fjords, landscapes and towns
After the start in Roskilde, the route follows Roskilde Fjord northwards before passing through Frederikssund and continuing into North Zealand. Along the way, viewers experience a striking contrast between fjord landscapes, open countryside and urban areas, as the riders maintain a high pace across the predominantly flat terrain.
The route is designed to provide a spectacular experience for both spectators and television audiences, before the race heads towards the capital. The final takes place in Copenhagen, where a bunch sprint decides the winner amid the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
Designed for sprinters and high speed
As the name suggests, Copenhagen Sprint is a cycling race built for speed and intense finishes. The flat and fast route makes the race ideal for the world’s leading sprinters and increases the likelihood of a mass finish with the entire peloton.
The combination of elite international cycling, easily accessible spectator areas and iconic Danish landscapes gives Copenhagen Sprint strong potential in terms of sport, tourism and visitor experiences along the route.
