This fascinating settlement gives you an insight into Viking building methods and way of life. The site includes five sunken-floor houses, an impressive longhouse, a plank road and a landing bridge, all forming the setting for a vivid presentation of the past.

The Viking Settlement all year round

The settlement is always open to visitors as an outdoor museum with free admission. Throughout the year, activities are arranged that allow you to experience the Viking atmosphere up close. Try traditional Viking crafts, browse market stalls or be entertained by the Vikings when the site is brought to life with events and activities.

The Frederikssund Viking Play

Every summer you can experience the great Frederikssund Viking Play, which takes place right next to the settlement. More than 150 participants bring the stories of the Vikings to life in an open-air performance. Complete your visit by booking a guided tour that tells the story of both the Viking Play and the Viking Settlement.

Hire the longhouse for special occasions

If you would like to celebrate in a unique setting, you can rent the longhouse at the settlement. The authentic surroundings by the fjord provide a memorable and atmospheric backdrop for your event.
